The Autavia, accurate to 1/5th of a second, is the first dashboard timer for automobiles, aviation and zeppelins. The name combines the beginning of the words “Automobile” and “Aviation”. It was replaced by Auto-Rallye/Monte-Carlo in 1957.
Jack Heuer recreates the Autavia as a wrist chronograph with turning bezel. Famous drivers bought and wore it because the look was cool, the piece was reliable and the dial was legible.
Jack Heuer launches the Chronomatic Calibre 11, the world’s first automatic movement. He puts it in an Autavia and chooses his friend, Swiss driver Jo Siffert, to be its first ambassador. Sports sponsoring is born, and the Autavia becomes an icon of the Heuer brand.
The new Autavia collection joins the TAG Heuer range. With design features inspired by the models introduced over half a century ago, this new version forges a distinguished identity for a new generation of adventurers.
